GOALS: Anderson Returns for Reserves With Brilliant Brace
Whilst I was living down sarf, I used to laugh about how terrible Anderson was in front of goal with my United mate whenever we watched us play. He was the most shot-shy player I think I have ever seen and, even on the rare occations that he forced himself to have a pop, the ball would invariably fly wildly over or tamely into the goalkeepers arms.
We celebrated his first United goal against Spurs like lunatics, perhaps matched only by our celebration for Macheda’s winner against Villa. We liked Anderson for his industry, directness and effort, but he just isn’t a goal threat.
Imagine my surprise to see that Anderson, making his comeback from injury as a second half sub last night for the reserves, had scored twice to win the game against Manchester City’s Super Ninja Android Death Squad from the Moon (a.k.a. their reserves).
His first followed a trademark driving run and cute little exchange of passes with the impressive Gabriel Obertan, who had opened the scoring.
The second came not long after, a low finish after another charge into City territory. He looks sharp, lean and, on this evidence, has a role to play in the run in.
It’s pleasing to see Anderson on the scoresheet in any game because, if he can add regular goals to his game, he could become one of the best midfielders in the league, nay Europe.
Ronaldo Set To Retire Today
Ronaldo, the Brazilian version, is set to announce his retirement from football today. His career spans clubs such as PSV, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan, and he is also the all time top goalscorer in World Cup finals tournaments.
He will aways be remembered at Old Trafford for his brilliant hat-trick in the Champions League for Real Madrid, for which he was given a standing ovation by Real Madrid and Manchester United fans alike.
After The Manchester Derby
I must have missed the part where Wayne Rooney made a grovelling apology for his transfer request without blaming someone else. I must have missed the months of stellar form in the lead-up to yesterday’s game. I must have been fast asleep and dreaming when he said that he was leaving for a club with ambition and that Fergie had lied about his injury, and I must be stupid, a cunt and “not a true fan”. Well Done Wayne Rooney: Video of All Goals Against Aston Villa
I have been a vocal critic of Wayne Rooney in recent weeks. He has looked disinterested, off the pace, and completely unthreatening in front of goal. All the while, Javier Hernandez has been looking rough around the edges, but sharp, clinical and, most importantly, looking like he could score at any given moment. Read the rest of this entry »
Ludicrous Giuseppe Rossi Strike For Villareal
Giuseppe Rossi has, as previously mentioned, one from strength to strength since leaving United for Spain.
This weekend, he got the winner for Villareal against Espanyol. The goal is absolutely devastating, and you can see it here.
