Is Wesley Sneijder Right for Manchester United?
Every god forsaken day I log on to NewsNow and see some website or other reporting an “exclusive” that we’re about to sign Wesley Sneijder for £xx million and I bang my head against my desk in a slow, yet firm manner as I let the stupidity of it all wash over me.
Fortunately, Sir Alex Ferguson is a wise man, who will leave the signing of Wesley to the Football Manager addicts of this world before pursuing more sensible, more relevant targets. We don’t need someone who’s just going to tread on Wayne Rooney’s toes and force us to entirely change our system overnight. We fucked up with that when we signed Veron.
Modric, Lloris and Rodwell Now On the Radar
With the transfer window closed, we are now well into silly season with regards the rumours flying about. Today, we are apparently chasing Luka Modric, Hugo Lloris and Jack Rodwell.
The MEN reports that the three are being looked at with a view to summer moves. Of thre three, Modric (left) would be fucking awesome. Gifted, mobile, technical and with an eye for goal, he’s basically Paul Scholes. In addition, he NEVER gives the ball away. I absolutely love watching him play, and to have him in a United shirt would be a huge boost to the club.
The figure being touted, £35m, seems fair to me, for a player who would be coming in to replace one of the best freebies of all time (Scholesy) and would give us the best part of ten years service. Of course, whether or not we have that kind of money kicking around is anyone’s guess. Read the rest of this entry »
Taarabt Tantrum Put Fergie Off Making Move
Neil Warnock has revealved that Adel Taarabt has been watched by United scouts recently – and that a temper tantrum which saw him substituted in the first half against Hull has cost him his chance of making the move, at least in the near future. Read the rest of this entry »
Is Giuseppe Rossi Worth £35m Too?
Harry Redknapp loves transfer deadline day, and tried to get involved again in the latest window with a last ditch monster bid for former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi.
Rossi has gone from strength to strength since leaving Old Trafford, and is now a regular for Italy and the main man at the third-best team in Spain, Villareal. Read the rest of this entry »
Gabriel Obertan Hands In Transfer Request?
This popped up on the BBC Gossip column this morning. It’s famously unreliable, but a little worrying. I haven’t heard anything any further yet, though I’m going to save my tears.
I rate Obertan, I think he’s a talented youngster who reminds me of Nani and Ronaldo when they first arrived. He is also the spitting image of Skeletor from the He-Man series of comics and cartoons.
If you hear anything, please let me know @FiveCantonas on twitter, or in the comments below.
Charlie Adam To Manchester United – WTF?
A couple of tweets are doing the rounds suggesting that Charlie Adam is coming to Old Trafford in a late deal today. Their source is a sharp increase in bets on Adam to join us.
This simply has to be nonsense. We don’t need him, and Holloway wouldn’t sell unless it was for stupid money; that much he has made clear. Along with Fergie’s stated and stressed need for “value in the market”, I cannot see this happening. Read the rest of this entry »
